I will probably defend Jake Martin til I die. I’ve been a fan of his since he appeared on the show.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’m the only one who’s ever noticed this but Jake has always let his dad push him around and Jake tries to do whatever possible to please him. Take the Clare situation for example when his dad was helping him with his tie. Jake clammed up like a little boy and kept his mouth shut and did what would make his father happy with him.
In the scene outside the shoe place in tonight’s episode, Luke mirrored that scene. He threw the can in the trash can and then called him the same thing his father did, talking down on him. It’s just Jake taking his frustration about his dad out on Luke.
